The challenge
An event in the public spotlight.
The ABOUT YOU Award had grown more popular every year. To match that profile, the 2018 show was broadcast live on TV for the first time. In a live production, time turns into cost: every delay at the entrance, the coat check or in the hall eats into airtime.
The audience was a mix of guests, influencers, hosts and many VIPs, and each group had different permissions for parts of the event and areas of the venue. The job of attendee management: get everyone to the right place at the right time.

How do you manage different guest categories at an award show?
Give each guest category its own permissions. At the ABOUT YOU Award, guests, influencers, hosts and VIPs were split into 5 categories in AirLST. Each category received its own event information by email and had access only to the parts of the event and the seating areas it was cleared for.
How do you handle plus-ones at a VIP event?
Set a plus-one allowance per person instead of one rule for everyone. In AirLST you define how many companions each guest may bring, capture their details at registration and keep them on the same guest list, so the plus-ones show up on the ticket and at the door.
Why print tickets on site at a live TV event?
An on-site printed ticket puts everything the guest needs in one place: name, seating area, plus-ones and a QR code for access control. At the ABOUT YOU Award, all of that came straight from AirLST, so the team and every guest worked from the same information.
