Virtual Events are here to stay. The COVID-19 pandemic has clearly boosted the development of technologies for virtual events, leading to new formats that not only serve as a substitute for live events but also fully realize their potential online.
Whether trade fairs, conferences, product launches, or employee training sessions: As virtual events, these formats gain additional flexibility, which increases their reach.
However, over time, the expectations of organizers and participants are also rising. For virtual events to be successful, they must meet certain expectations. And these can be named very specifically:
As participants in virtual events become increasingly proficient in navigating virtual platforms, the focus shifts to content. Efficiency in product and knowledge transfer characterizes virtual formats. Further attention is being paid to the formation of an Event Community . The informal exchange and networking effect of physical events should also not be neglected in the virtual realm.
To meet these expectations of our customers for virtual events, we are constantly developing our platform. New features address the current needs of users. In close contact with the users of our solution, we identify wishes and requirements.
Our latest feature is the Social Wall. Here, participants post photos or short videos related to predefined tasks or prompts. Posts can be liked and commented on by other users. Our Networking Features we have expanded to give participants the opportunity to interact 1:1. They can now do this via chat, video calls, posts, and the comment function.
Evidently, the focus is shifting from passive consumption of a virtual event to more interaction and participation. This is also supported by hybrid formats . For example, we are currently working on formats that utilize on-site buddies to connect users at home with guests on-site. Via mobile devices, on-site participants then also become part of the virtual event, expanding the reach of online attendees.
On-site event routines will continue to be shaped by Covid measures in the near future. Contact tracing and check-in are therefore sensitive processes that must be handled carefully to comply with Covid regulations. To simplify these processes and handling for organizers and entry staff, we are currently working on integrating the CovPass app into our AirLST Check-in App. Entry staff can then document and verify vaccination or test certificates without switching applications.
Virtual and hybrid events are thus evolving and emancipating themselves from classic in-person events, becoming independent formats of the future by combining the best of both worlds and increasingly intertwining them.
